This Thursday’s edition of Bem Bahia, on public broadcaster TVE, brings together three stories that reflect the ethnic and creative richness of Bahia. The program covers indigenous resistance, filmmaking, and dance — each deeply rooted in the state’s territory.

Kariri-Xocó Village: living ancestry in Entre Rios

Near highway BA-506 in Entre Rios, the Fazenda Burí farm has housed the Kariri-Xocó Multiethnic Village for about three years. The space serves as a hub of indigenous resistance and cultural preservation. The program sits down with chief Paruanã to discuss origins, ties to the land, and identity.

The report also showcases handcraft production — the community’s main economic activity — alongside sacred songs, ceremonial dances, and the local public school that serves the village’s population.

Bahian cinema shines at Festival Panorama

The 21st edition of the Panorama International Coisa de Cinema Festival brought 130 films to theaters in Salvador and Cachoeira. Among them, eight feature films and 20 short films produced in Bahia demonstrate the strength of local filmmaking. Recognized as the oldest film festival in the state, Panorama gathers emerging, independent, and established directors alike.

Jorge Silva marks 40 years with Trilogy of Life

In 2026, choreographer and educator Jorge Silva celebrates four decades of artistic work. To mark the occasion, he brings Trilogia da Vida (Trilogy of Life) to stages in Salvador — a production that reunites three milestone works: “Acúmulo de Desejos” (2002), “Em breve, espaço curto de tempo” (2004), and “Palafitas” (2005).

The performances center the periphery on stage and reaffirm the body as a living archive of memory and survival. The anniversary celebration also includes the launch of the second edition of his book “Eu matei minha mãe, tantas vezes que não conseguiria contar todas as versões”, authored by the founder of Cia. de Dança Jorge Silva.
