A full day at Cuca Pici turned into a K-Pop hotspot as Rede Cuca’s festival drew around 800 attendees and awarded new dance talents.
Held on Saturday (01/24), “K-Pop é na Rede Cuca” was organized by the City of Fortaleza through Rede Cuca, running from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with free, youth-focused programming.

Throughout the day, fans joined interactive activities, watched stage performances, and followed dance battles built around South Korean pop culture.
Organizers reported the crowd exceeded expectations: roughly 800 people took part, signaling strong momentum for Fortaleza’s K-Pop community.
Seven vendors also participated, helping circulate pop-culture goods while strengthening the creative economy tied to the scene.
K-Pop Cover contests spotlight newcomers
The K-Pop Cover competitions—solo and group categories—became a centerpiece of the schedule and helped bring emerging performers into the spotlight.
In total, 19 soloists and 12 groups competed, adding up to about 122 participants when dancers and support teams are included.
“Contemporary culture speaks directly to young people, strengthens identities, and expands forms of expression. When Rede Cuca makes room for movements like K-Pop, it recognizes these languages as a fundamental part of the city’s cultural production.”
The statement comes from Fortaleza’s Youth Secretary, Júlio Brizzi, highlighting how cultural policy can connect with real youth-driven trends.
