Jaguars and diving ducks become stage games: Edu Pio brings “Nature Preservation Show” to BH’s Barreiro district—free entry.
Artist, composer, writer, and researcher Edu Pio—creator of the Super Pamp project—presents the children’s performance Nature Preservation Show in January. Built around songs from the album “On-ca-pe—bube—bi-ra-pa,” the production blends axé rhythms, theatrical storytelling, and playful challenges to spark curiosity about environmental protection.
Axé energy with hands-on play
The show doesn’t ask kids to sit still. Songs turn into interactive games such as Urro da Onça, Esconde-Esconde, and Trem do Peixe, inviting the audience to move, sing, and respond as the story unfolds across a 45-minute set.
Although designed for children, the format pulls in adults too—creating shared moments where learning happens through participation, not lectures.
Songs inspired by threatened wildlife
Edu Pio’s original songs draw inspiration from threatened species found in Minas Gerais biomes. The lineup includes references to the jaguar, bush dog, catfish, brown howler monkey, a tree frog known as perereca-pomba, the bicudo bird, a spiny rat, and the diving duck pato-mergulhão—turning biodiversity into characters kids can remember.
Musicians and stage design
On stage, Edu Pio (vocals, acoustic guitar, and compositions) performs with Fábio Martins (percussion), Samy Erick (guitar), and Leo Brasilino (trombone). Set design by Ana Lu Barroso adds puppets and props that deepen the visual world and help younger audiences stay immersed.
Where it has toured in BH
The project has toured venues including Teatro Raul Belém Machado (2022) and Diversão em Cena – ArcelorMittal in Sabará (2023), plus multiple public early-education schools (EMEIs) in Belo Horizonte from 2023 to 2025. In 2025, it was selected by the BH Fomento public call for new presentations in the city’s cultural centers.
