Augusto is born colorful in a world where everyone looks the same. Teatro de Panela brings a powerful children’s show about diversity and belonging to Sesc Belenzinho in São Paulo.
In the land of Nowhere, sameness is the rule — until Augusto arrives, a colorful boy who makes sounds no one has ever heard. In a world that is cold and intolerant, he faces a choice. A slightly unhinged scientist offers him the ultimate fix: a procedure to turn him black and white, just like everybody else.
The question at the heart of the story: will Augusto give up who he is just to fit in?
Puppetry, farce, and original music
O Menino de Lugar Nenhum (The Boy from Nowhere) weaves puppet theater and farcical characters into a musical, playful staging. The script was collectively written by the company itself. Directed by Ivan Parente, the show tackles themes of prejudice, discrimination, and acceptance in a way that resonates with children and adults alike.
The original score was composed by Victor Angerami, who also performs alongside Bruna Izar, Guto Moura, and Livia Linardi. The show premiered in April 2021, featured at the Virada Cultural 2022, and toured São Paulo’s CEU cultural centers during the PROAC Circulation Season in 2024.
“The show explores, in a playful way, themes like prejudice, discrimination, and acceptance — revealing our true values and, above all, the importance of being who we really are.” — Teatro de Panela
Teatro de Panela: a decade of collective creation
Teatro de Panela was founded in 2015, when actors Bruna Izar, Guto Moura, and Livia Linardi came together in São Paulo to begin an extensive research process. Musician Victor Angerami joined the group, completing the ensemble with the musical dimension the project needed.
In 2021, the company received funding from the PROAC Expresso LAB grant, enabling the full production the team had always envisioned. Since its official premiere, Teatro de Panela has performed at festivals across Brazil and continues to tour SESI venues in São Paulo and beyond.
