The “Sons Pelas Mulheres” project, from the Metropolitan Philharmonic Orchestra, gains momentum in 2026 with Vale’s support through the Rouanet Law.
The female division of the Metropolitan Philharmonic Orchestra (OFM), an initiative by the Instituto dos Sonhos, begins 2026 with a major achievement: official sponsorship from Vale S.A. Throughout the year, the company will support the project using Brazil’s Federal Cultural Incentive Law (Lei Rouanet), enhancing the orchestra’s cultural presence across Rio de Janeiro.
“Sons Pelas Mulheres” features an all-female orchestra conducted by maestra Waleska Araújo, with a mission to give visibility to female musicians and composers. The initiative reaffirms the Instituto dos Sonhos’ commitment to promoting women’s leadership in classical music.
“The partnership with Vale turns ‘Sons Pelas Mulheres’ into something far beyond a musical project. We are creating a space of real visibility for women who have dedicated their lives to music and often remain unseen on major stages,” says Rafael Vieira, founder of Instituto dos Sonhos.
For Waleska Araújo, conducting an all-female orchestra carries deep symbolic weight. “How many times has a woman sat in the audience and seen no one like her on stage? This project exists to change that,” she reflects.
The concert schedule will be announced soon, along with educational activities and cultural programs promoting gender equity in music.
