For the first time, Via Brasil Shopping hosts the Deaf Entrepreneurs Fair on April 19, showcasing handmade products, inclusion, and the power of the Empreendedores Surdes Brasil collective.
This Sunday, Via Brasil Shopping opens its doors to a groundbreaking event: the Deaf Entrepreneurs Fair, bringing together artisans and vendors with handmade and personalized goods. The fair takes place on Level L1, from 1 PM to 9 PM, with free admission.
Creativity with no boundaries
Visitors can expect a vibrant selection of products, including jewelry, crochet pieces, custom printed items, decorative artwork, and themed accessories such as phone holders and watches. Every item reflects the craftsmanship and identity of deaf entrepreneurs who turn creativity into a livelihood.
The event was founded by Lucy Silveira, creator of the Empreendedores Surdes Brasil collective. For nine years, the movement has worked to provide visibility and economic independence to deaf professionals across Brazil.
The goal goes beyond commerce: the event aims to show that communication barriers between deaf and hearing people can be overcome through mutual effort and entrepreneurship.
No interpreters — by design
One of the fair’s defining features is its deliberate choice to operate without sign language interpreters. Visitors are encouraged to engage directly with vendors, naturally sparking curiosity about Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) and fostering genuine human connection.
This approach turns the fair into far more than a marketplace. It becomes a bridge between cultures and an invitation to empathy — where talent speaks louder than any barrier.
