Applications open through June: the world’s premier young culinary competition now welcomes candidates from Brazil in Portuguese for the first time.
The S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy has officially launched its seventh edition, opening applications to aspiring culinary talents under 30 years old from around the globe. The submission window runs from February 16 to June 9, 2026 — and this year marks a significant milestone for Brazilian chefs.
A first: applications in Portuguese
For the first time in the competition’s history, Brazilian candidates can complete the entire application process in Portuguese. The change reflects the Academy’s deepening commitment to diversity and inclusion, breaking down language barriers that previously kept emerging talent from the country away from the global stage.
A platform, not just a contest
The S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy is built around more than competition. It functions as a development platform, connecting young chefs with mentorship opportunities, international visibility, and access to some of the most influential figures in the culinary world — all aimed at helping each chef discover and sharpen their own culinary identity.
The competition is structured across 15 regions, with candidates screened by ALMA, the International School of Italian Culinary Arts. Shortlisted chefs compete in regional finals before the strongest advance to the Grand Finale. Judges evaluate participants on three core elements: technical skill, creativity, and personal vision.
New mentorship with world-class chefs
This edition introduces a dedicated mentorship initiative. Ardy Ferguson, the 2024–25 Global Winner, will spend three weeks working alongside celebrated chefs Julien Royer (Odette, Singapore) and Jeremy Chan (Ikoyi, London) — both members of the previous edition’s jury. The experience is also designed to inspire prospective applicants.
“The S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy has been an unforgettable experience and has provided me with opportunities in ways I could never have imagined. Being able to continue learning from chefs I greatly admire is incredible, and it allows me to keep refining my technique and build on everything the Academy offers as I continue to grow as a Chef.” — Ardy Ferguson, Global Winner 2024–25
“The S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy gives young chefs an extraordinary opportunity to test themselves on a global stage. The journey to the Grand Finale is intense and demanding, but also incredibly rewarding, pushing chefs to refine their skills, clarify their vision, and grow both professionally and personally. The Academy creates an environment where talent is challenged, supported, and given the space to truly evolve.” — Julien Royer, founder and chef of Odette, Singapore
“What makes the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy special is its focus on individuality and belief. Cooking at the highest level requires conviction as much as skill, and this competition gives young chefs the space and confidence to develop their own voice. Being able to support that process and engage with chefs at such a formative moment in their careers is incredibly rewarding.” — Jeremy Chan, founder and chef of Ikoyi, London
How to apply
Applicants must submit an original dish that reflects their personal vision, technical skill, and creativity. Beyond the main title, three special awards recognize social responsibility, connection to culinary heritage, and the expression of a personal vision through food.
