Between street parties, Alloro al Miramar stays open for Carnival, serving housemade pasta to refuel in Copacabana, right by the ocean.
Set inside the five-star Miramar Hotel by Windsor, part of the Windsor Hoteis group, the Italian restaurant will operate as usual throughout the holiday. The idea is simple: offer tourists and locals a comfortable, polished stop that still feels in sync with Rio’s high-energy season.
Chef Juliana Magioli’s Carnival-friendly picks
Chef Juliana Magioli highlights dishes designed to feel satisfying and balanced after long hours outdoors. On the classic side, guests will find spaghetti carbonara (R$110 + service charge) and spaghetti pomodoro (R$85 + service charge).
For a heartier option, her recommendation is cavatelli with saffron, ossobuco ragù, and a gremolata of parsley and Sicilian lemon (R$135 + service charge), combining pasta’s comfort with a more substantial protein-forward sauce.
About Juliana Magioli
Born and raised in Rio, Juliana Magioli left civil engineering behind and graduated in gastronomy in 2015 from Universidade Estácio de Sá. Since then, she has built her career in some of the city’s most respected kitchens.
She trained at Le Pré Catelan (then inside the former Sofitel in Copacabana), starting as an intern and later becoming a cook. In 2017, she worked at Pipo. In 2018, she joined the team at Cipriani at Belmond Copacabana Palace, taking part in international events in Portugal, Chile, and Peru, and eventually reaching the role of sous-chef.
Magioli says it was at Cipriani that she truly deepened her connection to Italian cuisine, learning techniques and ingredients that now guide her work at Alloro.
