A Provençal Rosé Takes Center Stage
Château d’Esclans, the iconic estate from Provence, has added another major accolade to its name. Winemaker and technical director Bertrand Léon was honored in the “Best Rosé” category of the Master Winemaker Top 100 book, recognizing his work on the Garrus 2023 vintage.
The recognition was announced at Wine Paris 2026, one of the world’s leading wine trade fairs, held at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles from February 9 to 11.

The Master Winemaker Top 100 is a joint publication by The Drinks Business, a leading international trade title, and the Global Wine Masters Series, widely respected for its rigorous blind-tasting format led by industry experts. The book highlights the most talented winemakers across these evaluations, weighing innovation, technique, and quality.
A Legacy Poured Into Every Glass
Bertrand Léon holds a degree in Agriculture from Bordeaux, with a specialization in Viticulture and Oenology, and has served as Technical Director of Château d’Esclans since 2011. He grew up immersed in the wine world under the guidance of his father, Patrick Léon, a celebrated winemaker and co-founder of the estate.
Alongside Sacha Lichine, Patrick Léon spearheaded what became known as the “Rosé Renaissance” — transforming the style into a global symbol of prestige, luxury, and sophisticated living.
The Wine That Clinched the Award
Garrus 2023 is sourced from a single vineyard of nearly 100-year-old vines. Fermented and aged in oak barrels, it delivers dry citrus aromas, hints of peach and passion fruit, and flavors of glazed pear and pineapple with subtle toasted nuances.

A Record of Global Recognition
This latest honor builds on a strong recent track record. In 2025, Château d’Esclans was named Rosé Producer of the Year by the International Wine & Spirits Competition and ranked among the World’s 50 Best Wineries by Forbes, firmly cementing its status as a global benchmark for luxury rosé.
