The GSH Blood Bank Serum announced its special opening hours for New Year’s week and reminded the public that there is still time to donate blood this year and help save lives.
New Year’s week schedule
Operations will follow this schedule: on December 31 (Wednesday), the centers will be open until 12 p.m.; on January 1 (Thursday), they will be closed; and on January 2 (Friday), normal hours resume — from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Centro and Barra units, and from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Nova Iguaçu.
A critical period for blood supply
During the holiday and travel season, blood stocks often drop significantly, while demand for transfusions remains steady, especially for emergencies, surgeries, and ongoing treatments. The institution emphasizes that all blood types are needed and that a single donation can save up to four lives.
Donation locations
Donations can be made at Avenida Marechal Floriano, 99, Centro, and at Casa Shopping – Barra, both open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., including weekends and holidays. The Nova Iguaçu unit, at Avenida Henrique Duque Estrada Meyer, Posse (Hospital Geral de Nova Iguaçu), operates from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Free transport for donors
The institution provides free transportation for groups of four or more people from easily accessible locations. To schedule, contact them at least three days in advance via WhatsApp (21) 99695-7470.
