More than 800 free eyeglasses will be delivered in Goiânia this weekend in a new phase of the ACB Vision Drive.
The Associação Comunidade Batista will hold two distribution events between Friday (10) and Saturday (11), serving patients seen during eye care drives held in March. In total, 819 pairs of glasses will reach residents in Jardim Curitiba and Bairro Goiá.
On Friday, the delivery starts at 6 p.m. at Ministério Sal e Luz Church, in Jardim Curitiba. At this stage, 359 pairs will go to patients who attended the March 14 eye care drive.
Then, on Saturday, the action moves to Escola Municipal Lions Clube Bandeirantes, in Bairro Goiá, at 2:30 p.m. This round will benefit 460 residents who were seen during the March 7 drive.
ACB Vision Drive expands eye care access
The ACB Vision Drive aims to expand access to eye care for vulnerable communities. The project offers consultations, exams and free eyeglasses, helping improve dignity, independence and daily quality of life.
Meanwhile, pickup is restricted to patients seen on the corresponding drive dates. To collect the glasses, each person must present the yellow form received on the day of the consultation along with an official photo ID.
If the beneficiary cannot attend, a third party may collect the glasses. In that case, the yellow form must also be presented.
Next steps in Goiânia
ACB plans to hold three more drives by the end of April. As a result, the association continues to expand preventive care in different parts of the city.
Upcoming phases are expected to include new deliveries in neighborhoods such as Leste Universitário, Balneário and Finsocial. At the same time, the organization says it is strengthening partnerships with public authorities, health professionals and private companies to reduce unmet demand for ophthalmology services.
