Black Eyed Peas consider a Carnival return in Rio

With Papatinho involved, will.i.am and the Black Eyed Peas are discussing a special Rio Carnival project, potentially including a show and new collaborations.Brazilian producer Papatinho has become a key figure in talks that could bring the Black Eyed Peas back to Brazil in a high-profile way. The idea on the table is a special project connected to Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival, though the format has not been confirmed. The invitation came from will.i.am, the group’s founder, who brought Papatinho into creative conversations about the initiative. Discussions include the possibility of new musical collaborations, as well as a potential performance in the country if plans move forward.

Papatinho bridges global pop and Brazil’s urban sound

Known for connecting cultures and sonic worlds, Papatinho is positioned as a bridge between global pop and Brazilian urban music. The move also highlights his international momentum, as he expands his work outside Brazil and strengthens his profile on the global stage.

“What stands out to me in his work is how he blends tradition and innovation. He understands the streets, the dancefloor, and the world. If the Black Eyed Peas come back to Brazil, I want it to be with someone who truly represents that energy, and Papatinho will help us make it happen,” says will.i.am.

“I grew up listening to the Black Eyed Peas. Being able to talk with will.i.am and think together about something that connects Rio’s Carnival with their music is surreal. If it happens, I want it to represent Brazil in a strong, modern way, with identity,” says Papatinho.

Still in an early discussion stage, the project is already stirring the music and entertainment scenes behind the scenes. If confirmed, it could bring together two powerful spheres: the Black Eyed Peas’ global pop reach and the creativity of Brazil’s urban scene.
