Bossa Nova fills Curitiba’s Ópera de Arame this Sunday (25), with floating-stage concerts and a free pottery workshop at Vale da Música.Hosted inside Parque Jaime Lerner, Vale da Música is a cultural program presented by Brazil’s Ministry of Culture and Bradesco. For Bossa Nova Day, the project sets a full-day schedule that blends live music with a hands-on art activity, framed by one of Curitiba’s most iconic landmarks.
Bossa Nova on the floating stage
Concerts begin at 10:00 a.m. with Triska Trio, bringing a set inspired by key Bossa Nova artists and composers shaped by the movement. The group calls its approach “Bossa n’ Beats,” mixing classic references with contemporary textures while keeping the genre’s signature elegance. At 12:40 p.m., the Samuel Strapasson Quartet follows with a concert that highlights the style’s refined, intimate feel. The repertoire revisits songs associated with Tom Jobim, João Gilberto, Vinicius de Moraes, Carlos Lyra and Roberto Menescal, in sensitive new readings that leave room for improvisation and a distinctive voice. From 3:20 p.m. onward, Power Fusion Trio – O Trio Sambado closes the musical program with an instrumental MPB show marked by original arrangements and strong rhythmic drive. The set travels from Tom Jobim to Djavan, echoing the venue’s natural scenery around the Ópera de Arame.
Free pottery workshop (registration required)
Alongside the concerts, visitors can join a free pottery workshop, with prior registration, running from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the venue’s Palco Aberto. The session is led by Hecho por Cami, a collective focused on ceramics as an artistic language and a sensory experience. The workshop unfolds in three steps: an introduction to how a ceramic piece is made, a demonstration with hands-on practice of basic modeling techniques, and finishing work to complete the piece.
Tickets and what’s included
The entire program is included with admission to Parque Jaime Lerner. Beyond the performances, the ticket also grants access to Vale da Música, Rua da Música, food operations, the Ópera de Arame and exhibitions—turning the outing into a day of Bossa Nova, art and nature.
