Casa Natura Musical launches the year blending Carioca samba, Pernambuco manguebeat, and São Paulo street blocs. January pulses with pre-carnival energy. Iconic artists and collectives light up the Pinheiros stage.Teresa Cristina opens on January 16 with Jessé: Zeca Pagodinho Songs. She revives hits and hidden gems from the samba legend. The show previews her upcoming album, spotlighting Zeca’s support for fellow songwriters.On the 17th, Nação Zumbi delivers maracatu, rock, and hip-hop fusion. The Pernambuco band traces its path from Da Lama ao Caos to shaping Brazilian rock. Jorge du Peixe and crew bridge Recife and São Paulo.
Blocs drum up carnival fever
Carnival warmup starts January 18 with Ilú Obá de Min. The all-women bloc performs Tambores sempre Tambores – Okan Ópera Negra – Beijo na Alma: Girlei Luiza Miranda. For 20 years, it champions Afro-Brazilian culture and Black women’s empowerment.Next: Mariana Aydar’s Forrozin (23rd) with forró, xote, and axé; Johnny Hooker Bloc (24th) mixing pop and MPB; Ritaleena (25th) on São Paulo’s birthday, honoring Rita Lee with bold sensuality. The month closes with Bloco Pagu (30th) marking 10 years with an all-female battery, and Confraria do Pasmado (31st) featuring original sambas and fresh takes.
