In “Fã do Sanduíche”, Hyldon blends blues and country influences to recall his move to Rio, alongside legends like Maurício Einhorn and Alex Malheiros.
Singer-songwriter Hyldon releases “Fã do Sanduíche” on February 27, revisiting the early days of his career and his journey from Bahia’s countryside to Rio de Janeiro. The song carries what he calls a “sertanejo blues” vibe, evoking nostalgia and the urban rhythm that shaped his artistry.
To bring the story to life, Hyldon invited three musicians who have marked his path: Maurício Einhorn, Alex Malheiros, and Paulinho Guitarra. At 93, Einhorn adds the emotional tone that recalls the harmonica Hyldon got as a four-year-old boy.
Alex Malheiros, founder of the legendary band Azymuth and Hyldon’s longtime collaborator, shared stages and studios with icons like Nara Leão, Raul Seixas, and Erasmo Carlos—well before Hyldon’s landmark album “Na Rua, Na Chuva, Na Fazenda.”
Closing the lineup, Paulinho Guitarra brings the power of pure blues. “We met as teenagers at Somil Studios, during Tim Maia’s second album. I played rhythm guitar, and he handled the solos. He was a natural improviser,” recalls Hyldon.
The song’s title has a personal origin. “In Bomfim, sandwiches didn’t exist — we’d just say ‘bread with this or that’. When I moved to Rio and saw the diners, I fell in love. I became a sandwich fan,” says Hyldon with a laugh.
