A band that stood the test of time
Men At Work was formed in Melbourne, Australia in the late 1970s. By the early 80s, they had taken the world by storm, winning the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1983. Their debut album, “Business as Usual” (1981), set the record for the longest stay at number one on the US charts for a debut release.
Music videos for “Be Good Johnny”, “Down Under” and “Who Can It Be Now?” became staples of early MTV. Despite their massive success, the band split in 1985. Colin Hay pursued a solo career and reunited with keyboardist and saxophonist Greg Ham in 1996 to re-form the group, including a stop in Brazil where they recorded a live album. The second chapter ended in 2012, following Ham’s passing.
In 2019, Hay relaunched the band with his Los Angeles-based musicians, while also serving as a member of Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band. Since then, the group has drawn large crowds worldwide, a testament to the enduring power of the MAW catalog.
