Renan Oliveira releases audiovisual tribute to Jorge Aragão

Ahead of Jorge Aragão’s birthday, Renan Oliveira releases “Samba É Prece”, a heartfelt tribute to the Brazilian samba master.

To celebrate the birthday of one of Brazil’s greatest samba icons, on March 1, singer Renan Oliveira launches on February 27 the audiovisual project “Samba É Prece – Special Edition in Tribute to Jorge Aragão”, available on all streaming platforms.

Recorded in November 2025 at Batuq, a renowned samba venue in Rio de Janeiro’s Penha neighborhood, the project stems from Renan’s deep desire to honor his idol. “I’ve always been a huge fan of Aragão and dreamed of paying tribute to him by keeping his songs alive and celebrated,” says Renan.

The setlist, chosen with affection and intuition, features songs interpreted with both respect and personality. The arrangements by longtime collaborator Jotinha Harmonia capture the essence of Aragão’s refined pagode style. “We wanted a strong, well-played samba sound that carries his identity,” Renan explains.

With no guest appearances, the project emphasizes its intimate nature. “I wanted this homage to be mine, from me to him. For this debut, it had to be just me,” Renan says. He also oversaw every musical and visual aspect. “Every detail was meant to move people—and especially the honoree—with the elegance that defines Aragão.”

More than a musical release, “Samba É Prece” marks a personal milestone for the artist. “This audiovisual is the realization of a dream. The first big concert I ever saw was Jorge Aragão’s—and that memory guided me through every moment of recording,” recalls Renan. “I just hope he feels the love in this tribute.”

With “Samba É Prece – Special Edition in Tribute to Jorge Aragão”, Renan Oliveira reaffirms his devotion to roots samba, celebrating the lineage of a genre that continues to inspire generations.
