John Lennon, Brazilian songwriting and samba-jazz launch April at Soberano Jazz Club in Itaipava with Julio Aroeira, Antonio Villeroy and Pão na Chapa.
Soberano Jazz Club opens its April schedule with three concerts that underline the venue’s musical identity in Itaipava. From Thursday to Saturday, audiences will find a tribute to John Lennon, a stop on Antonio Villeroy’s 2026 world tour and an instrumental set rooted in samba-jazz.
Based at Estação Locanda, the club brings together live music, dining and a program focused on artists with strong ties to Brazilian music. As a result, this week’s lineup moves across familiar classics, new material and refined instrumental interplay.
Julio Aroeira opens Soberano Jazz Club with Lennon
On Thursday, April 9, at 8 pm, singer and performer Julio Aroeira presents “Strawberry Fields Forever”. Joined by Martché on piano and keyboards, he revisits different moments of Lennon’s career, from the early beat sound to the solo years.
The setlist includes songs such as Help, All You Need Is Love and Imagine. The concert also brings in stories and background notes that frame Lennon’s creative reach.
Antonio Villeroy brings Cenas Extraordinárias
On Friday, April 10, at 9 pm, Soberano Jazz Club welcomes Antonio Villeroy. With a 44-year career and now based in Portugal, the songwriter arrives in Itaipava as part of his 2026 world tour.
The concert previews songs from his upcoming album, including Abril Cinzento and Língua Viva. At the same time, it returns to titles such as Pra Rua Me Levar and Sinais de Fogo, works that reached wide audiences through artists including Ana Carolina, Maria Bethânia and John Legend.
The performance also highlights the scale of his catalog. According to the event information, Villeroy’s songs have been recorded by more than 130 artists worldwide.
Pão na Chapa closes the week with samba-jazz
On Saturday, April 11, at 9 pm, instrumental trio Pão na Chapa takes the stage as part of Festival Soberano. The group brings together Thiago Silva, Luiz Otávio and Guto Wirtti, three musicians with a strong presence in contemporary Brazilian music.
Thiago Silva carries the rhythmic legacy of Robertinho Silva. Luiz Otávio is known for his musical sensitivity and for performing alongside Mart’nália. Guto Wirtti, in turn, is a recurring presence in João Bosco’s projects and tours.
The trio dives into the tradition of samba-jazz, an instrumental language that flourished in Brazil between the late 1950s and early 1960s. Because of that, the performance centers on the blend of samba and American jazz, with room for improvisation and rhythmic freedom.
The show is part of Festival Soberano, which launches the venue’s 2026 season with a lineup built around musical diversity. The season is supported by the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro and the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy through the State Cultural Incentive Law.
The Soberano Jazz Club experience in Itaipava
Beyond the stage, Soberano Jazz Club offers a broader night out. Happy hour starts at 5 pm, with double draft beer and a 20% discount on snacks.
Then, at 6 pm, Radamés Bistrô begins dinner service with a menu that highlights local flavors. For cigar lovers, Espaço Havana offers an elegant and comfortable outdoor veranda.
