The fifth season of Pesadelo na Cozinha — Brazil’s version of Kitchen Nightmares — premieres on Tuesday, February 24, at 10:30 PM, on Band. Chef Erick Jacquin kicks off the season at Casa do Norte, a family-run restaurant in Barra Funda, a traditional neighborhood in São Paulo’s west side.
A family split, a business adrift
The real problem at Casa do Norte runs deeper than the menu. Two brothers co-manage the restaurant, but neither steps up as leader. That power vacuum has thrown daily operations into chaos, pushed the restaurant away from its original concept, and left customers frustrated.
An oversized menu and a complete lack of boundaries within the team made things worse. Both the kitchen and the dining room operate in disorder — a direct reflection of the fractured management between the two siblings.

When Jacquin arrives, he encounters a space that is dirty, disorganized, and far from any sustainable standard. The lack of hygiene visible even on the façade catches the French chef off guard. His mission: fix not just the food, but the fractured family dynamic running the place.

A season rescuing restaurants across Brazil
This season, Pesadelo na Cozinha tackles 12 struggling restaurants across four Brazilian states: Bahia, Minas Gerais, Paraná, and São Paulo. The show is a Brazilian adaptation of the British format Kitchen Nightmares and is a co-production between Band and Warner Bros. Discovery.
New episodes air on Band and stream simultaneously on Band.com.br and the Bandplay app. Viewers can also watch on HBO Max. On cable, Discovery Home & Health airs the episodes on Fridays at 8:40 PM.
