MultiRio’s new Multiplica platform offers seven free courses in education, technology and autism inclusion — open to all, year-round, with free certificates.
MultiRio, the City of Rio de Janeiro’s municipal multimedia company, launched Multiplica on Tuesday, April 7 — a free online learning platform aimed at teachers, students and professionals seeking continuing education.
The platform goes live during Autism Awareness Month and already offers seven open-enrollment courses available at https://multi.rio/multiplica, with registration open throughout the year.
Seven courses to start
The platform launches with courses in active learning methodologies, computational thinking and inclusion. Available titles include Active Methodologies, Introduction to Computational Thinking, Computing in the Brazilian National Curriculum (BNCC) and ASD: Understanding for Inclusion.
Content is delivered through videos, podcasts, texts and interactive activities, letting each learner set their own pace. All courses include a free completion certificate.
Spotlight on autism inclusion
In line with Autism Awareness Month, the course ASD: Understanding for Inclusion stands out. The 8-hour program covers evidence-based practices, Applied Behavior Analysis, functional assessment and identification of learning barriers.
It also addresses crisis management, augmentative and alternative communication, autonomy development and the school-family relationship. The course brings together professionals, researchers and family members, with materials in multiple formats.
How to access Multiplica
Access is straightforward. Users visit the platform, choose a course, create an account and start learning right away. Enrollment stays open all year long.
Launch brought together educators and partners
The launch event featured a panel discussion at MultiRio’s headquarters, with teacher and author Liliane Mesquita, professor Carla Marçal from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, president Angelina Moreira and teacher training manager Otávio Ávila.
Representatives from the Special Secretariat for Metropolitan Integration, the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance, the Municipal Secretariat of Integrity and Transparency, and the Fundação Osório also attended.
MultiRio continues to expand its reach with initiatives that strengthen education and bring different languages together. Multiplica is part of that movement, uniting knowledge, practice and creation in one space. In addition to the courses already available, the platform will add new content throughout the year.
Angelina Moreira, president of MultiRio
Media and Education Director Natália Xavier also joined Moreira at the opening of the event.
