Christ the Redeemer and the Colosseum have entered a new phase of international collaboration after signing a twinning agreement on Thursday (28/05) in Rome, linking two of the world’s most recognizable landmarks.
A symbolic global connection
The ceremony took place at the Parco archeologico del Colosseo and brought together key representatives from both countries. Among those present were Father Omar, rector of the Christ the Redeemer Sanctuary, Simone Quilici, director of the archaeological park, Antonio Florencio de Queiroz Junior, president of Fecomércio RJ, Fábio Queiróz, president of Asserj, and Brazilian ambassador to Italy Renato Mosca.
The agreement formally designates the two landmarks as sister monuments, strengthening ties between icons that have shared global recognition since being named among the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007.
Beyond symbolism
The partnership extends beyond ceremony, outlining collaborative efforts across education, tourism, culture, sports, and economic initiatives. Both institutions will work together to develop shared projects and exchange expertise.
The goal is to deepen connections between Brazil and Italy while fostering long-term cooperation and mutual visibility on the global stage.
