The Czech Republic ranks 6th in global safety and 11th in peace, standing out as a calm and reliable destination in Central Europe.
In February 2026, the Czech Republic confirmed its position among the world’s safest nations, according to the Travel Safety Index 2025 and the Global Peace Index 2025. The country’s strong performance surpasses most of its European neighbors, reinforcing its image as a stable and peaceful society.
Safety and stability driving tourism
With excellent health indicators, low crime rates, and strong institutions, the Czech Republic is building its 2026–2030 tourism strategy around safety and sustainability. These qualities make it one of the most attractive destinations for families and long-term visitors alike.
“Being one of the world’s safest countries allows us to offer total peace of mind to our visitors — the freedom to explore our cities at any time and enjoy our culture without worries,” said Petr Lutter, CzechTourism’s Director for Latin America.
High scores in global rankings
The Travel Safety Index measures 35 factors, including crime rates, political stability, and natural hazards. The Global Peace Index, developed by the Institute for Economics and Peace, uses 23 indicators across 163 countries. In both, the Czech Republic places among the world’s best, cementing its reputation for peace and reliability.
