After drawing 30,000 people in 2025, Brazil’s biggest June festival south of the Northeast returns June 4–7 at Parque Barigui, now with room for 40,000.
The largest festa junina in southern Brazil is back. São João de Curitiba has officially confirmed its second edition, scheduled for the Corpus Christi long weekend, June 4–7, 2026, at Parque Barigui – Centro de Eventos Positivo. Following a record-breaking debut that brought together around 30,000 visitors over four days, the mega-festival is returning with an even bolder vision.
Building on a historic first edition
Created and produced by event companies CWB Brasil and Joy Eventos, the festival quickly established itself as one of Brazil’s most important June celebrations outside the Northeast. In its debut year, it turned Curitiba’s event park into a vibrant urban arraial — blending folk tradition, live entertainment, and large-scale infrastructure in one of the city’s most iconic venues.
For 2026, capacity has been expanded to accommodate up to 40,000 visitors across the four-day run. The layout will also be revamped, with a new arrangement for the food area and a reorganized stage configuration. “With the success of 2025, our responsibility grows. We are keeping everything that worked in the first edition while fine-tuning details to ensure the comfort of families and tourists,” says João Gilberto Abrão, director of CWB Brasil and one of the festival’s founders.
Luar do Sertão back with a brand-new show
One of the standout moments of the 2025 edition was the performance by the legendary Quadrilha Junina Luar do Sertão, from the northeastern state of Alagoas. With over 40 years of history and widely recognized as the world’s most decorated quadrilha group, the ensemble captivated audiences with elaborate costumes, striking choreography, and a celebration of Northeastern Brazilian culture.
For 2026, Luar do Sertão is confirmed to return with an all-new show, a larger cast, and more performances. The full lineup will be announced in the coming weeks on the festival’s official channels.
“The first edition exceeded all expectations and proved that Curitiba has the audience and the space for a major June festival. For 2026, we want to take this project even further, bringing new experiences, attractions, and surprises that cement São João de Curitiba as a must-attend event on the city’s calendar.” — João Gilberto Abrão, director of CWB Brasil
Tradition, food, and culture for all ages
The festival will double down on its winning formula: traditional food stalls, themed décor, folk games, brand activations, and cultural performances rooted in the São João tradition. The goal is to honor Brazil’s beloved June celebrations while offering a contemporary, immersive experience for all generations.
