After welcoming 63k Brazilians in 2025, South Africa expects 2026 to be the best year ever for its tourism market in Brazil.
The 8th South Africa Tourism Trade Show took place this Tuesday (2) in São Paulo, bringing together more than 30 South African exhibitors and 200 trade and media professionals. The event highlighted the destination’s strong post-pandemic growth and growing demand among Brazilian travelers.
Official data show that South Africa received 63,848 visitors from Brazil in 2025 — a 28.1% increase compared to 2024. This marks the best result since the pandemic and strengthens Brazil’s position as one of South Africa’s key tourism markets.
“Brazilian travelers are increasingly drawn to our culture, nature, and warm hospitality,” said South African Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille.
In a video message, De Lille emphasized the importance of trade collaboration, the country’s high-quality infrastructure, and coordinated marketing initiatives to expand South Africa’s presence in Brazil.
The minister will visit Brazil next week alongside President Cyril Ramaphosa, reinforcing the strong diplomatic and tourism ties between the two nations.
Optimism is also driven by improved air connectivity: soon, there will be 11 weekly direct flights between Brazil and South Africa, operated by South African Airways and Latam Airlines — the latter launching direct flights to Cape Town in the second half of 2026.
“We have every condition to exceed all records. Brazil is ready to sell South Africa with confidence,” said Tati Isler, CEO of TI Comunicações, the official representative of South African Tourism in Brazil.
With safaris, breathtaking landscapes, and a vibrant culinary and arts scene, South Africa continues to attract Brazilian travelers. “Partnership with the tourism industry is key to converting enthusiasm into lasting results,” added Marcelo Marques, Trade Relations Manager.
