Pieces from Origem Patacho Design Hotel win the iF Design Award and reach the finals of the Frame Design Awards. Brazilian authorial design goes global.
A beachfront hotel in the Brazilian Northeast is quietly rewriting the global map of Brazilian design. The Origem Patacho Design Hotel, nestled on Patacho Beach in the state of Alagoas, has been collecting international awards and nominations for pieces that furnish its spaces — with recognition coming from Berlin, Amsterdam, and Milan.
iF Design Award for the Cipó lighting collection
The Cipó lighting collection, created for the brand Itens under the creative direction of Mariana Amaral, has just received the prestigious iF Design Award, celebrated at a ceremony in Berlin, Germany. Inside the hotel, the Cipó fixtures anchor an artistic installation in the entrance hall and appear throughout the cabins, elevating the sensory identity of the space.
Amsterdam finalist: the Seresta floor tile
The Seresta tile, developed by Juliana Pippi for manufacturer Dalle Piagge, was selected as a finalist at the Frame Design Awards in Amsterdam — one of the most influential international prizes in architecture and design. The piece translates musicality and movement into pattern, asserting the relevance of Brazilian authorial design on the world stage.
Vínculo rug wins national bioeconomy award
The Vínculo rug, designed by Juliana Pippi in collaboration with Trapos & Fiapos, took first place at the 1st Design Award of the National Furniture Industry (ABIMÓVEL), in the Bioeconomy Design category. The collection made its international debut at Fuorisalone, at Pilotto Milano in Milan, in 2025, and is part of the hotel’s curated collection as a statement of its commitment to craft and sustainability.
Affective design as a guiding philosophy
Behind every award-winning piece is the creative direction and interior design of Juliana Pippi, whose work connects craftsmanship, memory, and territory. The architectural project, signed by Rodrigo Fagá, bridges Southern Brazilian influences with the essence of the Northeast in a singular, contemporary vision.
These recognitions represent far more than awards for specific pieces: they validate a design philosophy born from emotion, memory, and connection to the land. Origem was created to be a sensory experience, where every detail carries meaning. Juliana Pippi, creative director of Origem Patacho Design Hotel
About the hotel
Opened in October 2024, Origem Patacho Design Hotel is an adults-only retreat on Patacho Beach, one of the most unspoiled stretches of the Alagoas coastline. Crystal-clear waters and natural tide pools set the scene for a deeply restorative stay.
The property features ten private cabins, each with a heated pool with hydromassage jets, a spacious terrace, and interiors blending minimalist design with natural textures and Brazilian artisanal elements. Two Vila Suites offer panoramic ocean views.
The pace here is intentionally unhurried: breakfast is served whenever guests wish — morning, afternoon, or evening. Private spa sessions, traditional jangada boat trips, beach walks, and natural pool bathing complete a wellness experience designed to foster genuine reconnection with oneself.
