At BTL in Lisbon, Vila Galé announced a R$ 100 million investment to transform the former Pio XII College into its first hotel in Paraíba.
Continuing its expansion in Brazil, the Portuguese hotel group Vila Galé officially confirmed the development of its first project in Paraíba. The signing ceremony took place on Thursday (26) at the BTL – Lisbon Travel Market, with the presence of the group’s president, Dr. Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, Governor João Azevêdo Lins, and João Pessoa’s mayor, Cícero de Lucena Filho.
Named Vila Galé Collection das Artes, the hotel will occupy the former Pio XII College, located in João Pessoa’s historic downtown. The initiative aims to revitalize the building while enhancing the city’s cultural and touristic appeal.
With an estimated R$ 100 million investment, the project will feature 80 rooms, two restaurants, a spa, a swimming pool, and the Clube Nep area for children. Construction is expected to start in the second half of 2026.
“I was enchanted by João Pessoa, and we want to bring new life to the city center. We’re passionate about restoring unused buildings,” said Dr. Jorge Rebelo de Almeida.
According to Almeida, Vila Galé already operates similar hotels in Brazil, such as Vila Galé Collection Amazônia in Belém (PA) and Vila Galé Collection Ouro Preto in Minas Gerais, and has two under development in São Luís (MA). With this addition, the brand now has seven projects in progress in the country.
