The Pinacoteca of São Bernardo do Campo hosts the exhibition “Urban Reflections: The Art of Daniel Melim” from January 31 to March 28, 2026. Curated by Baixo Ribeiro and produced by Paradoxa Cultural, the show features 12 works, including eight new ones, offering an immersive look into the artist’s creative process and his dialogue with urban life.
A leading figure in Brazilian urban art, Daniel Melim brings part of his studio into the exhibition space, displaying paintings, reliefs, installations, sketchbooks, and studio elements. Highlights include a large-scale 2.5m x 12m piece and a collaborative mural created during the exhibition period.
The curatorship connects past and present, showing how Melim transforms daily life visuals into cultural commentary that bridges public and institutional art spaces. Designed as an “expanded studio,” the exhibition features interactive areas where visitors can try stencil and lambe-lambe techniques, becoming co-creators in the artistic process.
“I’ve always been interested in the relationship between art and urban space. Stencil was my first medium and remains the starting point for visual narratives about everyday life. This exhibition is a dialogue among city, artwork, and audience,” says Daniel Melim.
Returning to his hometown, the artist notes: “São Bernardo was my first art school—both through university and through the streets. Bringing this show to the Pinacoteca feels like opening my studio to the city that shaped me.”
