“Meu Melhor Amigo” debuts in Pelotas with sensitive narrative, professional cast, and trained dogs in an innovative theater experience.
The free performance opens on December 4 at UFPEL at 2 p.m., with tickets available in advance via Sympla. The show combines emotion, poetry, and interaction with trained dogs.
The story follows Martin, a skeptical and solitary scientist who prioritizes reason over affection. The loss of his brother plunges him into grief and isolation.
His friends Mina and Guido gift him Maylon, a dog who challenges his beliefs and helps him rediscover love, forgiveness, and the value of the present.
Through poetic use of light and shadow, the play explores life’s fragility and the power of unexpected connections, engaging the audience emotionally.
The professional cast performs alongside dogs under the supervision of Rudinho Bombassaro, a canine psychology specialist trained in Cesar Millan’s school, ensuring animal and audience safety.
General direction is by Guilherme Suman, filmmaker, Literature master, and composer, guiding the production with technical skill and sensitivity, enhancing its poetic dimension.
With free admission, the play is suitable for children, families, veterinary students and professionals, theater lovers, and animal enthusiasts.
Next performances
After Pelotas, the show travels to other cities in Rio Grande do Sul. The next confirmed date is in Caxias do Sul on February 26, with more performances in March.
