Thirteen new episodes of “Arquitetos Brasileiros” premiere March 13 on Arte1, exploring how top Brazilian architects respond to the urgent demands of contemporary urban life. Canal Arte1 premieres the second season of its documentary series “Arquitetos Brasileiros” (Brazilian Architects) this Friday, March 13, at 8:30 PM. With 13 brand-new episodes, the production takes a deeper look at contemporary Brazilian architecture, tracing the trajectories, creative processes, and landmark works of some of the country’s most significant architects and urban planners. Co-produced by Aiuê Produtora and Canal Arte1, the new season builds on the foundation laid by the first edition, aired in 2016. Each episode blends conversations with the featured architects, testimonials from collaborators and experts, and a guided visit to a landmark project chosen by the architect themselves.
Architecture beyond buildings

In this second season, we deepened our mission to talk about more than just the gossip of the architecture world. We enjoy sharing the stories and curiosities of this universe, but in service of a larger goal: discussing the importance of architecture in society.
Jafet also noted that increased production investment allowed the team to spend more time with each architect — and that, in several cases, revisiting a key project gave even the architects themselves fresh perspective on their own work.
Season opens with Adriana Levisky
The premiere episode profiles architect Adriana Levisky, a leading voice in urban planning and the design of inclusive, community-oriented spaces. The episode visits projects such as Senac São Miguel Paulista and the Núcleo Jardim Colombo in Paraisópolis, examining the ties between architecture, education, and social transformation. Subsequent episodes cover a wide range of approaches within Brazilian architecture. Featured names include the studio Andrade Morettin, known for its minimalist and context-sensitive design; Angelo Bucci, celebrated for structural precision and the dialogue between technique and the city; Carlos Motta, who brings together architecture, nature, and artisanal woodworking; and Carol Bueno, a pioneer in urban sustainability. The season also revisits the legacy of urbanist Jaime Lerner and includes profiles of Eduardo de Almeida, FGMF, Gui Mattos, Luiz Fernando Teixeira, Mario Figueiroa, the studio MMBB, and the collective Nitsche.

If the first season introduced the trajectories and landmark works of Brazilian architecture, now we go deeper into each architect’s thinking and how they respond to the urgencies of our time. Architecture appears less as a showcase of projects and more as a field of reflection on city, culture, and ways of living.
Fernanda emphasizes the series’ potential to shift how viewers perceive everyday urban spaces. “Architecture is present in our lives all the time, but it often goes unnoticed. It organizes how we move, how we meet people, and how we occupy space,” she says.
